How To Decorate Around A Mirror

ChloeBy ChloeOctober 16, 2024Updated:October 26, 2024No Comments5 Mins Read

One easy way to change the look of your home is to add mirrors. They can be used in a lot of different ways and add a decorative touch to any style of home design. It can be hard to decide what else to hang on the wall after you have one up. We thought of some ways to decorate around a mirror.

I love putting mirrors around the house. They make dark spots brighter by reflecting light. They make little rooms look and feel bigger. They can also make a room’s focus point. But what do you do after you hang the mirror on the wall? If you use a full-length mirror or a big mirror with an interesting frame, it might be enough to stand out on its own. Having said that, if your mirror is small or you need to fill a big wall, you should pair it with some other items. That’s why these tips for decorating around a mirror are useful.

Create a gallery wall with pictures

What’s better than having one mirror? A lot of mirrors. You can make a gallery wall out of framed mirrors the same way you can with pictures. Pick frames that are all the same style, shape, or color so they look good together. Being able to see yourself in a mirror gallery wall is what sets it apart from a picture gallery wall. This works best in places that aren’t too crowded. It could make your room feel too crowded if you don’t.

Hang pictures on either side

Some people like the idea of a gallery wall but don’t have or want that many mirrors. You can add mirrors to a picture gallery wall instead. Just change one or more of the pictures to a mirror in a frame that goes with it. Your gallery should be set up like any other, with the biggest frames in front and the smaller ones behind them.

Repeat the same mirror multiple times

Putting up pictures on either side of a mirror is another way to decorate the area around it. To get the most cohesive look, try to find pictures that are the same size and frames that match.

Put up asymmetrical mirrors

A simple way to make a smaller mirror stand out is to repeat the same mirror more than once. If your mirror is tall and thin or has an interesting shape or frame, this method works great for them.

Hang sconces on either side

Putting mirrors together in an uneven way will give your room a more modern look. It should look like each group has about the same amount of visible weight. When you look at this shot, the two mirrors on the left together are about the same size as the big mirror on the right.

Add flowers

This will make the look equal on its own. The lights are very close to the mirror, so a lot of the light will bounce back into the room and make it brighter. That’s great for dark places. If the mirror is above a console table, which is popular in an entryway, you could use lamps instead of sconces.

Layer it

A fireplace ledge with flowers, a pretty mirror, and nothing else on it makes me think of love. Especially if a chandelier can be seen in the mirror. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on real flowers all the time. You can find some really pretty fake flower designs that will work just as well.

Add lamps in front

Over the fireplace, there is a mirror with a picture in front of it. On one side is a vase, and on the other are candlesticks. With a little more work, you can add layers to the area around a mirror to make it look nicer. Put a picture over part of the front of your mirror to try it out. In order to finish off the scene, add some candles, a tall vase with flowers, and some shorter figures. There are times when I have to fiddle with it a bit to get it to look good, but it’s worth it in the end.

You can also keep things easy by putting a table under your mirror and putting two lamps on either side of it. It will bounce the light back into the room, making it brighter. And the three things make a group that gives the mirror more visual weight, making it look less empty.

Use co-ordinating furniture

Putting lights around your mirror is the best way to make the room feel romantic. The reflection will make the fire light feel even warmer. Adding some plants to the scene will also help soften the lines.

Group floor mirrors with furniture

For mirrors with more complicated frames, you might only need to add some furniture that goes with them. Putting a table under the mirror that has the same style and color makes the whole group look like it fits together.
